Dear Resident, Summer can provide more opportunities for burglars as people spend more time outdoors, go on holiday and leave windows open. To help keep your home safe: Make your property look occupied by using timer switches and asking a trusted neighbour to collect post, remove leaflets and move bins.Lock all doors and windows, including upstairs windows, before leaving home.Keep keys, valuable items and important documents out of sight and secure.Protect vehicle keys and consider additional security measures such as steering wheel locks, alarms or trackers.Secure sheds, garages, bicycles and garden equipment.Install or maintain burglar alarms, CCTV and video doorbells where possible.Avoid posting holiday plans or real-time travel updates on social media.Report suspicious activity to police and support local Neighbourhood Watch initiatives.Remember: Lock it. Light it. Make it look lived in. Most burglars look for easy opportunities, so simple security measures can significantly reduce your risk of becoming a victim of burglary.
